Estimark and TimeKeeper, compared for UK construction

Construction and field service firms that want hours tracked properly, from a phone or a tablet fixed at the site.

• It is a UK and Irish product and it says construction on the front of it, so it is the closest thing here to Estimark’s site check-in.
• Its subject is time: clock in, clock out, GPS, geofences, leave requests, timesheets out the other end.

On 15 September 2026 TimeKeeper listed its Core plan at £4 per employee a month billed monthly and its Pro plan at £6, so ten people came to £40 or £60 a month before VAT.

• Paid a year up front those rates fell to £3.33 and £5.00 per employee a month on 15 September 2026, invoiced as £400 a year for ten people on the cheaper of the two.
• The pricing page opens on annual billing, so the first figure a visitor sees is the discounted one. TimeKeeper publishes the monthly rates in its own pricing FAQ.
• TimeKeeper’s page put VAT on top of all of it.
• Estimark is priced per firm rather than per head: £129 a month +VAT covers up to 5 users, with extra field users at £29 a month +VAT each, and Timesheets is included from Solo up.

UK contractors who need the site record and the commercial record to be the same record.

• QR check-in and check-out at the entrance, with a GPS fix at the scan, a per-job boundary and a typed gate code for a phone that will not read the code.
• A live muster roll of everyone currently on site, covering employees, subcontractors, visitors, deliveries and inspectors.
• Clocking out writes the timesheet entry, so hours become labour cost on the job as well as a line in the payroll export.
• CIS deducted on labour only, the section 55A reverse charge on the invoice, and payment applications dated by the Construction Act.

It handles the four obligations a UK contractor is judged on: CIS deduction, the VAT domestic reverse charge, Construction Act payment timing, and the safety records that go with them.

• CIS deducted on labour only, excluding materials, VAT and plant hire, on 6th-to-5th tax months, with HMRC verification when connected and the CIS300 recorded with both statutory declarations.
• VAT domestic reverse charge under section 55A: the statutory wording on the invoice, nil VAT, controlled per client.
• Payment applications with Construction Act dates, the pay less deadline calculated, and retention tracked to release.
• RAMS with operative sign-off, inductions, permits and a live muster roll, plus EIC, EICR, Minor Works, PAT and CP12 certificates with typed test results.

NoteEstimark records the CIS300 and locks it to its tax period. It does not file the return to HMRC on your behalf.

When the clock is the whole job: you want hours tracked well, your quoting and invoicing are settled elsewhere, and nobody is asking you for a muster roll.

• A firm that only needs hours will pay less for a product that only does hours, and that is what TimeKeeper is built to be.
• Clocking on in Estimark needs a signal. A basement, a plant room or a steel frame with no coverage means no scan, and the app says so rather than queuing one it cannot check.
• Estimark has no biometric hardware and no shift-pattern rota, so if either is on your list, compare products that carry them.
