New

Jobs have a programme: activities, links, the critical path and a forecast

Each job now has a Programme tab where you can plan the build as stages and activities, link them in sequence, and see the critical path and forecast finish date. You can generate a first programme straight from the job's quote in one step, with each priced section becoming a stage, and then adjust durations and links from there. Take a baseline at any point to track how far the forecast finish has moved from the original plan, and the people carrying out the work can record progress against the activities assigned to them. Limits: The programme is available on the web only and does not appear in the phone apps. It uses England and Wales bank holidays and does not import or export Microsoft Project files.

Internal work, one-off jobs and jobs under a larger job, with daywork that costs and invoices

Jobs can now be set as client jobs, one-off jobs for small works and call-outs, or internal jobs for work on your own premises. Internal jobs track time and costs but are never invoiced, and a job can sit under a larger parent job so its costs roll up. Daywork sheets can create their own one-off or internal job, approving a sheet posts its cost to the job, and an approved sheet on a client job can be turned into an invoice. Internal and one-off jobs do not count towards your plan's job limit. Limits: Daywork labour is costed at the rate on the sheet.

Job kinds and daywork on both phones

You can now set a job type (client job, one-off job, or internal work) and link a job to a parent job from both the iPhone and Android apps. Daywork sheets on the phone can also create their own one-off or internal job, display the same totals the office sees, and let you raise an invoice directly from an approved sheet on a client job. Limits: Internal work jobs cannot be invoiced.

Estimating from drawings: measuring tools, an AI take-off to check, and pricing from your own rates

You can now upload a set of drawings and measure directly from them in Estimark, using length, area, count, wall area and volume tools, with each page set to scale. You can also let the AI read the drawings and propose a take-off for you to review line by line before anything is committed to your estimate. Lines are priced from your own price book, assemblies and labour rates, anything without a rate is flagged, and a QS's bill can be imported, compared and exported. Each plan includes a monthly allowance of AI take-offs, shown as AI Credits. Limits: The AI produces a first take-off for you to check, not a measured survey. It reads PDF and image drawings only, not CAD files, and prices are drawn from your own rates.

The job programme on both phones

You can now view a job's programme on the iPhone and Android apps, with this week's activities shown first, followed by upcoming and completed work, and each activity marked as critical or with slack. People on site can record progress against the activities assigned to them and leave a note for the planner, even without a signal; the programme updates once the device reconnects. Limits: The apps do not allow programme planning. Adding, linking or moving activities, and taking baselines, remain on the web.

The programme's value view, and every live job's programme on one page

The Programme page now shows every live job in one list, with each job's forecast finish date, how many working days it has shifted from its baseline, percentage complete, and any critical work that is running late. From the same page, you can build a programme for any job that does not have one yet, using its quote as the starting point. Quantity surveyors also get a Value view on each job's programme, which sets planned value, earned value and actual cost against each other week by week, and shows SPI, CPI and a forecast cost at completion. The value and cost figures are visible only to people who already have access to job budgets and costs. Limits: The programme does not appear in the phone apps. Costs are measured across the whole job rather than per activity. For earlier weeks, earned value is calculated by assuming each activity progressed evenly between its recorded start and the point it was marked complete.

Supplier invoices are matched against the order and the delivery before they are paid

You can now record a supplier's invoice and check every line against the purchase order and what was actually delivered before it is approved for payment. Each line tells you whether it matches, whether the price differs, whether more has been invoiced than received, or whether the line is not on the order at all, and a tolerance you set lets small price differences through without flagging them. Any invoice that does not match requires a written reason before it can be approved, and once approved it replaces the order's committed cost with the actual cost on the job. A delivery booked in on the web keeps the date, the name of who took it, a note, and a photo of the delivery ticket. Limits: Supplier invoices are available on the web app only, not on the phone apps. Estimark records that an invoice was paid but does not pay the supplier or send the invoice to your accounts package. Reading lines from a PDF works on PDFs that contain selectable text and on photos of invoices, but not on scanned PDFs.

Opportunity settings choose which public tenders a company hears about

You can now choose which public tenders appear in My Matches. In Opportunity Settings, tick the regions, contract values and trades you work in, then set keyword rules to include or exclude tenders, filter by buyer type, framework, whether a tender is marked not suitable for small businesses, closing-date margin and which portals to read. Saving the page updates My Matches straight away, and the daily email follows the same settings without repeating a tender you have already been sent. Owners and admins can also pause or restart their own daily email from the same page. Limits: Buyer type is worked out from the buyer's name, so a buyer whose name does not make their type clear is counted as Other buyers. A framework is recognised from what the notice says, so if the notice never names the framework it will not be caught. These settings are not available on the phone apps.

Accreditations are uploaded with their certificates and printed wherever the company's credentials are stated

You can now add each accreditation and its certificate in one step, and the certificate can be read to fill in the number, grade and dates for you to check. Your quotes, RAMS, PQQ evidence pack and, on Pro and Enterprise, your tender documents will print the accreditations and insurance you hold, with anything expired left off. The new Held and targets tab shows what you hold today and what a scheme such as Constructionline Gold requires you to have in place. Limits: The target check covers the accreditations and insurance a scheme asks for, not the policies and records it also asks to see. Reading a certificate uses your AI allowance.

Both phones show an order's deliveries and supplier invoices, and approve them with a reason

You can now view a purchase order's deliveries and supplier invoices from both the iPhone and Android apps. When you book in a delivery on your phone, it keeps the arrival date, a note, and a photo of the signed ticket even if you have no signal at the time. Supplier invoices can be reviewed line by line, queried, matched, approved for payment with a reason where a line does not match, reopened, and marked as paid, all within your own approval limit. Limits: Supplier invoices are raised on the web, where the PDF lives, not in the phone apps. Estimark records that an invoice has been paid; it does not make the payment to the supplier.

The job programme reaches the builder's client: shared in the portal, and printed

You can now share a job's programme with your client through their client portal, and print it on your letterhead in A3 or A4. In the portal, the client sees the planned and forecast dates, percentage complete, each stage with its dates and progress, and the milestones; they do not see float, the critical path, notes, resource allocation, or any values. You can also print two versions of the programme as a PDF: the full version for your own meetings, or the client-facing version for meetings with them. Site managers can open either PDF from the programme in the phone app and send it on from there. Limits: Sharing the programme in the client portal requires a plan that includes the client portal, which Solo does not include. Nothing is shared with the client until you turn it on for that job. The client sees the top level of the programme only, not the activities within each stage. The phone app prints A4 only, and sharing is turned on or off on the web.

The AI take-off shows the shape it measured, beside the drawing

After an AI take-off, you can now see the shape it measured alongside your drawing before you price. Open it in Check the shape and it shows a plan with each side's length marked, which you can rotate to 3D. The measurements it produced, such as the wall centre line and floor area, are listed beside the shape with their workings. Any shape that did not match the drawing is flagged, so you know which lines to look at. Limits: Doors and windows are shown at their sizes and spaced evenly along their wall, not in the positions the drawing shows. Partitions are listed rather than drawn. Take-offs that ran before this change have no shape to show. On a phone, the plan view is shown only.

Every safety, HR and policy document a customer sends has a home

You can now store your safety, HR and policy documents in one place and see at a glance what you hold. Toolbox talks come with a library of ready-written talk content and keep a record of the exact words each crew received; site inductions run from your own induction sheet with each site's details filled in; and COSHH entries hold their safety data sheets. Policies and the employee handbook can be uploaded as files, and each member of staff acknowledges the version they have read. Limits: Uploading policies is available with Training & Qualifications, and the employee handbook with HR Management, both on Pro and Enterprise plans. The phone apps record talks and inductions as before but do not display the talk words or the induction sheet.

The phones catch up: tender matches, renewals, and switching company on Android

You can now view your tender matches on both phone apps, open a match and its notice, and adjust your opportunity settings. Tender matches are available on Pro and Enterprise plans, and opportunity settings are available on every plan. When a renewal warning appears for an accreditation or insurance policy, tapping it takes you straight to Accreditations & Insurance and opens that certificate, where you can review what you hold and add the renewed certificate from your phone. On Android you can now switch between the companies you belong to, and on both phones any change saved without a signal is always sent through to the correct company once you are back online. Limits: Saving a match or moving it along your bid pipeline is only available on the web. When you add a renewed certificate it is created as a new record, and the one it replaces remains on your register.

Improved

Tenders: one bad notice no longer stops the sync, and fit-out is a category

Tender matching now recognises office and commercial fit-out work, including Cat A and Cat B, so add "Fit-out" to your trade categories if you want those notices sent to you. The public weekly tenders email also has a fit-out option. Previously, a single malformed notice from a government portal could stop all that day's tenders from reaching you; that no longer happens. Limits: Fit-out is recognised from the codes and wording in the notice itself, so a fit-out project described only in an attached document may be missed.

The AI take-off settles the drawing before it measures

The AI take-off now reads a drawing's overall dimensions, wall thicknesses, and which walls are new before it starts measuring, so it no longer picks up existing walls as if they were new build. Each line in the take-off shows the calculation behind its quantity, and where that calculation does not match the quantity the line is flagged as low confidence with a note explaining why. When the AI asks you a question about the drawing, it refers to lines by what they are rather than by a number or code. Limits: The AI's quantities are a first take-off and should be checked before you accept them.

Automatic payment reminders can be switched off, and the guides say how they work

You can now switch off the automatic reminder emails that go to your customers when an invoice is 3, 7, 14, and 30 days overdue. Untick them in Settings, then Company Profile. You can still send a reminder manually from the invoice itself. The help guides now explain how the reminders work. Limits: Reminders are only sent to customers who have an email address on their record.

The AI take-off reads the outline and the code measures it: exact on dimensioned drawings

On drawings that carry written dimensions, the AI take-off now measures walls, foundations, floors, ceilings and wall finishes exactly, rather than reading the printed figures alone. It traces the outline of the building, checks it against the internal dimensions and room areas on the plan, and pulls heights from the elevations where the plan refers to them. Where something does not add up, it asks you instead of guessing. Limits: Walls that are not square to each other, and scanned drawings, are still taken off by reading the printed dimensions alone and are marked for you to check.

An AI take-off job is ten drawing pages, and an extra job is £10

An AI take-off from drawings now covers up to 10 pages per job. If your drawing set is larger, each additional 10 pages uses one of your monthly take-off allowances. Any take-off beyond your monthly allowance is charged against your AI balance at the rate shown in Settings, then AI Credits. Limits: Running the same estimate again within a month does not use further allowance unless the page count passes the next 10-page threshold.

Somebody given an activity on the programme is on the job

Assigning someone an activity on a job's programme now adds them to that job automatically. The job appears in their list on the web and in the phone app, they can clock in and out on site and book hours against it, and they can see the full programme and record progress on their own activities. This is particularly useful for subcontractors and trades brought in for a single stage. Limits: Someone added to a job this way can see the programme but not its values, and cannot make changes to the plan. To give them fuller access, add them to the job's team directly.

Managed onboarding loads a priced quote as a draft, and says honestly what it loaded

If you took the managed onboarding package, a priced quote you include in your pack is now set up in your account as a draft quote, carrying across the client, sections, lines, quantities, rates and VAT from your sheet. Estimark checks that the lines add up to the total on your sheet, and the day 3 email tells you whether they do or not. Nothing is sent to your client: you review the draft, make any changes you want, and send it yourself. Limits: Your onboarding specialist loads the quote for you; it is not something you can upload to a quote yourself. A quote priced across several sheets, or one that includes a discount line, is loaded with the difference shown rather than the lines being matched.

Clocked hours cost money, and the job's cost screen says which hours have no rate

Hours clocked at the gate, closed at the end of the day, signed out by a subcontractor, or logged on the phone are now costed to the job as they are recorded, rather than waiting until a rate is added later. Each hour is costed at the person's own rate first, then their trade's cost per hour, or a subcontractor's agreed hourly rate. Where no rate exists, the job's cost screen shows how many hours are uncosted, lists them, and costs them once you set a rate. Labour Rates now holds a cost per hour for each trade alongside the charge rate. Limits: A salaried person's hours are not converted from an annual salary, so they fall back to their trade's cost per hour. Subcontractors on price work have no hourly rate and their hours are not costed. Rates are set on the web app, not the phone apps. Job costing is available on Core and above.

The company chooses whether clients see job programmes, on the Progress tab

You can now control, across the whole company, whether clients see job programmes on their portal: you can show them on every job that has a programme, on selected jobs only, or on none at all. When you choose to show a programme, it appears on the client's Progress tab in place of the milestone list. Limits: Clients see stages, milestones, progress and finish dates only. Programmes show only on plans that include the portal's project pages.

Tenders say why they are hidden, local work ranks first, and certificates are edited, renewed and deleted

You can now edit, renew and delete an accreditation or insurance policy in Accreditations & Insurance, and attach a certificate to an existing record there. A renewed certificate is removed from the renewal register once the new one is added, and you will be notified the day after a certificate expires. On Pro and Enterprise, My Matches now lists any tenders your opportunity settings are hiding and tells you the reason for each, All Opportunities shows open tenders by default unless you choose to include closed ones, and work in your own region is ranked above work open to all of England. When a new company signs up it is matched straight away against the public tenders already open, and you can edit or delete certificates in the phone apps too. Limits: Tender matching does not yet read the specific requirements within each tender. Attaching a certificate to an existing record is available on the web only.

Estimating QA, 3 October, part 2: a QS's bill imports as reference, and the quote and check-the-shape faults

You can now bring a quantity surveyor's bill into your estimate as a reference. Its rows sit alongside your own measured lines so you can compare quantities directly, but they are not added to your price or included in any quote. To price one of those rows, open it and choose Make it a priced line. A quote's PDF now lists its sections in the same order as the quote itself, the quotes list shows each total both with and without VAT, and a quote's page now fits a phone screen. Limits: Rows imported before this change that had not been priced are now treated as reference rows. Rows that had already been priced remain on the bill as priced lines.

Fixed

Daywork labour is not costed twice when the day's timesheets already cost it

When you approve a daywork sheet, the labour on it no longer gets added to the job's costs if timesheets have already been booked to that job for the same day. The materials and plant from the sheet are still costed to the job as normal, and the labour still shows on the sheet and on any invoice you raise from it. Limits: The check works by job and day, not by individual worker, so if a different gang's daywork sheet is approved for a day when anyone else has already clocked onto that job, that sheet's labour will also be left off the costs.

Paid invoices are matched to their subscription in the shape Stripe now sends

Subscription payment receipts are being sent again by email, and if a payment fails you will now receive a notification so you can update your card details. For several weeks neither of these emails was going out. Limits: Receipts for payments made during that period are not sent automatically by this fix.

Four small faults: quote numbering, the end of a customer view, variations on internal work, tokens in the worker log

Quotes now use the prefix and next number you have set in Document Numbering, and invoice numbers follow the same setting. If you have never changed those settings, Document Numbering now shows what your quotes have always used, so your sequence carries on without a gap. Numbers will only ever increase. A variation can no longer be raised against internal work. Limits: Changing the prefix starts a new sequence from your next number. Quotes already issued keep their original numbers.

The timesheet export downloads, and Reports offers it

You can now download timesheets and expense claims as CSV files from Reports. The timesheet file includes each entry's person, job, hours, category, and approval status. Limits: The timesheet file records hours only, not rates or costs.

Tenders, accreditations and the Company Profile: fifteen faults from the 3 October walk

Your Company Profile now saves fields you leave blank, so part-completed profiles are no longer lost. In Accreditations and Insurance, a renewed certificate is removed from the renewal register, an expired one is marked Expired, and expiry warnings with no named renewal owner are sent to everyone in the company. Opportunity settings now list the accreditations you hold from your certificates, and tender cards, matches and the daily email show the work location in plain words, such as "Anywhere in England". When a tender analysis or document cannot be produced, the page tells you rather than failing silently. Limits: Accreditations and insurance policies cannot be edited or deleted on screen. To renew one, add the new certificate.

Purchasing and money: what saved nothing, what disagreed, and what did not fit a phone

Changes you make to a draft purchase order's lines now save correctly, and correcting a line on a supplier invoice now updates the invoice total. The totals on the Purchase Orders page now count deliveries booked in so far and match what you see in Job Costing, which helps quantity surveyors and site managers keep their figures in step. Company Profile now saves for every company, so you can switch automatic payment reminders off without the setting reverting. Purchasing and job cost screens now fit a phone screen and display correctly in dark mode. Limits: Purchase orders, supplier invoices and Job Costing are available on Core and above; the Company Profile fix applies on every plan.

The AI take-off measures finishes by NRM2, checks the overall size, and never charges for a cut-off reading

AI take-off for plaster and other wall finishes now follows NRM2, keeping openings of 1 m² or less within the measured area so finishes are no longer under-measured. If the overall size stated on a plan does not match its drawn outline, Estimark flags it for you to check rather than accepting the figure. If a drawing cannot be read in full, you are told and that drawing is not charged. Limits: L-shaped and stepped plans can still be read as a rectangle. Use Check the shape to compare the outline with the drawing before relying on the quantities.

Jobs, the programme and what they cost: gate hours on the operative's own timesheet, a job page for who can use it, and a phone that fits

Hours an operative clocks at the site gate now show on their own timesheet, both on the web and in both phone apps. A job's page now shows Edit, Mark Complete and valuations only to the people whose role allows them to use those options, and the page layout fits a phone screen with tabs that scroll. On the client portal, the Progress tab now displays dates in the format "7 Sep 2026" and tells you clearly when no date has been set. Job Costing now tells you how many hours it has costed when you run a cost from current rates. Limits: Job Costing is available on Core and above. The client portal project pages are included in the plans that include the client portal.

Estimating QA, 3 October: AI allowance refusals stay on screen, the take-off says its terms, and the portal's line totals fit a phone

When your monthly AI take-off allowance is used up, the take-off window now shows you why it cannot start and what your options are, rather than sending you to a different page. Before you begin a take-off, the window also tells you how many drawing pages it covers and what an additional one costs. Your clients can now scroll through a quote's line totals on a phone in the client portal.

Purchasing and money: the faults the 3 October walk left open

Each invoice now opens on its own page from Invoices, where you can email it to the customer and record payments against it. Automatic payment reminders will now only chase invoices that have been sent to the customer through Estimark, so if an invoice was raised before this change it will not be chased automatically until it has been sent from its own page. For businesses that are not VAT registered, job costs now include the VAT paid on orders, supplier invoices and expenses, and the cost screens say so clearly. Purchase Order Approvals now shows only the orders you have the right to approve, and you can approve or reject directly from the order itself. Limits: An invoice raised before this change is chased automatically only once it has been sent from its own page. Purchase orders, supplier invoices and Job Costing are available on Core and above.

Phones QA, 3 October: Android pickers and permissions stop crashing, iPhone opens ticket photos and supplier PDFs

On Android, choosing or taking a photo and allowing camera or location access no longer closes the app. On iPhone, a delivery ticket photo and a supplier invoice PDF open again after a fix where they had stopped working, and a future date now shows how far ahead it is rather than displaying "just now". Android's Browse screen now opens with the same default screens as iPhone. Limits: Purchase orders and supplier invoices are available on plans that include purchasing.

Extra users are billed as the subscription terms say, and on annual plans at all

Adding a user above your plan's included number, or switching a module on, is now charged pro rata for the remainder of your billing period. Removing a user or switching a module off takes effect from your next bill, with no part-period credit; a paid module you switch off keeps running until the end of the period you have already paid for, and Settings, then Modules shows that date so you can leave it on until then at no extra charge. On an annual plan, any extra users or modules are billed monthly on a separate invoice, and that invoice stops when the plan ends. Limits: A module on a free trial, or given free by the support team, switches off straight away when you turn it off.

Jobs tell the truth: the baseline as drawn, portal links kept, field workers kept from the money, and the CVR's margin (part one)

A programme's baseline now records the dates as you drew the plan, so progress, slippage and the client's planned finish are all measured against the schedule you agreed with them. Copying a portal link from a quote no longer breaks the link your client is already using. Field workers can no longer see a job's contract value or any prices. Job Costing's margin to date now matches the CVR, calculated as value certified less cost to date, and the cost report for an internal job shows its costs as overhead with no margins applied. Limits: Baselines taken before this change keep the dates they already recorded. Hours already logged against someone else stay on the timesheet of the person who logged them.
