A site diary that proves what the weather did

Estimark’s Site Diary module records a dated entry per job covering weather and temperature, workers and plant on site, the work carried out, delays, visitors and notes, with the weather data stored against the entry rather than remembered. A delay claim rests on a contemporaneous daily record, and this is it. It is included from the Solo plan (£29/month) up.

What the Site Diary module does

  • One dated entry per job per day, with the author recorded.
  • Captures weather and temperature, and stores the underlying weather data against the entry.
  • Records workers on site and plant on site.
  • Holds work carried out, delays, visitors and free notes as separate fields, so a delay is retrievable rather than buried in prose.
  • Site photos can be linked to a diary entry, so the evidence sits with the day it describes.
  • Diary entries can be exposed to the client through the Client Portal.

Site Diary — how it works

Why does a site diary matter commercially?

Because extension-of-time and loss-and-expense claims are decided on contemporaneous records. A diary written on the day, naming the weather, the labour on site and the delay, is evidence. A reconstruction written six months later is an argument. Estimark keeps delays as their own field precisely so they can be pulled out as a set.

Is the weather recorded automatically?

The entry holds a weather description and a temperature alongside a stored weather data record, so the conditions on a given day are captured against the diary rather than reconstructed later from a public source that may have changed.

Can the client see the site diary?

If you give them a portal login. The Client Portal module exposes recent site diary entries alongside progress, photos and documents. Without it, the diary is internal.

Questions

Site Diaryfrequently asked

Which plan includes the site diary?

Site Diary is included from the Solo plan (£29 a month) upward — Solo, Core, Pro and Enterprise. As a standalone module it is £9 a month.

Can I fill the diary in from site with no signal?

Estimark is an installable progressive web app with an offline field mode. Native iOS and Android apps are in development but not available yet.

Can photos be attached to a diary entry?

Yes. Site photos can be linked to a diary entry, as well as to defects and RFIs, so a single photo can serve more than one record without being uploaded twice.
