Estimark’s Defect Management module logs each snag with a number, a title, a photo, a location down to floor level and room, a trade and an assignee, then tracks it through open, in progress, rectified and signed off with the sign-off name and date recorded. Defects can be grouped into punch lists per job. It is included from the Pro plan (£249/month) up.
What the Defect Management module does
- Numbers each defect and attaches it to a job, with title, description and photo.
- Locates the defect by free-text location plus floor level and room label, so a snag on a multi-storey job is findable.
- Assigns to a person and records the trade responsible.
- Carries a priority of low, medium or high and a due date alongside the raised date.
- Moves through four statuses: open, in progress, rectified, signed off — with rectified and signed-off dates and the name of who signed it off.
- Groups defects into punch lists per job, each with its own title, description, status and closed date.
- Links site photos to a defect, so evidence is shared with the diary and RFI records rather than duplicated.

What is the difference between rectified and signed off?
Rectified means the trade says it is done. Signed off means someone with authority has inspected it and accepted it, and Estimark records who and on what date. Collapsing the two is how a snagging list gets closed on paper while the client is still finding the same items at handover.
How are snags organised on a big job?
Into punch lists. A punch list groups defects under a title with its own status and closed date — typically one per plot, floor or handover round. Combined with floor level and room label on the defect itself, that is enough structure to walk a block and clear a list room by room.
Can a client raise a defect themselves?
During the defects liability period, yes — the Warranty Management module accepts client-reported defects against the warranty period, which is a different record from a construction-phase snag. In-build snagging is raised by your team.

Which plan includes defect management?

Can I snag from a phone on site?
Yes. Estimark is an installable progressive web app with an offline field mode, so snags can be logged with a photo while walking the job. Native iOS and Android apps are in development.
What is a punch list?
A grouped set of defects on a job — usually one per plot, floor or handover round — with its own title, status and closed date. Estimark supports punch lists alongside individually numbered defects.
